Gavin™, a boutique branding and communications agency serving government and public entities, took home international accolades in the government website category at the dotCOMM Awards for its redesign of the City of Harrisburg (PA) website, winning a “Gold Award.”
“Gavin delivered a better functioning website that resonates with the users,” says Steven Bortner, Harrisburg’s director of information technology. “Our new site is user-friendly, flexible and streamlined, which are key to public services, as well as ADA-compliant and accessible on mobile devices.”
The dotCOMM Awards is an international competition honoring excellence in web creativity and digital communication. The competition spotlights the role of creatives in the dynamic, constantly evolving web.
When U.S. News & World Report voted the Harrisburg metropolitan region the No. 1 place to live in Pennsylvania, the City of Harrisburg responded by improving its image with a more streamlined online experience via a new logo and website, both of which Gavin designed.
“Online experiences continue to be paramount in better serving the public, and this award affirms our agency’s commitment to delivering high performing sites with exceptional user experiences,” says president/CEO Mandy Arnold. “By improving the capital’s website, the administration can work more efficiently in serving its residents and business, thus advancing relationships with the City’s constituents.”
The new Harrisburg site (harrisburgpa.gov), which launched in mid-June 2021, is accessible to visually and hearing-impaired users of voice, screen readers or other assistive technologies. The site provides enhanced functionality for access to important information, updates and resources for businesses, residents and visitors.
